Study Programme

General Info

Our center's core activity is the 2-year Master's Programme "German and European Studies". The master's programme is based on the cooperation between the Political Science Departments of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (NaUKMA) and the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena (FSU). Funding is provided by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). In this social science master program students are trained in Political Science (major), Law and Economics with a strong empiric focus on Germany and the EU. We are offering a double diploma- and a certificate program with the majority of lectures and courses taught in German and English (more than 50%).

In the double diploma-programme students study at the Mohyla-Academy in Kyiv for the first year and are intensively trained in the German language and scientific methods. They also acquire basic knowledge about the political systems and histories of both Germany and the EU, in European integration and international relations. The second year starts with a full semester at FSU Jena in Germany where students are taking advanced courses   allowing them to specialize further on international relations, international organizations, European integration, comparative political systems, and political theory. In a special research colloquium students are also supported in preparing a German MA thesis. The second year concludes with some additional courses at the Mohyla-Academy and the writing period for the master theses.

If succesful students receive a "Master of Politics"-diploma from FSU Jena and the Master-diploma from the Mohyla Academy. Next to that there exists the opportunity to study in Kyiv only and receive a certificate in "German and European Studies" together with the Master-diploma from the Mohyla-Academy.
